Jewelry Jealousy
Comment for a chance to win this rad wooden bracelet!We all know how frustrating the fashion rules of Labor Day can be. It represents a barren fashion season, plagued not only from the lack of white (who made that rule anyway?), but from last-season looks shoved in your face by retailers.
But it's not all bad... win this carved wood bangle bracelet, perfect for fall, just by commenting on this post with a brief answer to the question below! To celebrate the end of summer, we're offering our readers the chance to win an all-natural classic piece of jewelry, created from nature itself.
That's right, all you have to do is drop a short comment on this post with the answer to the following question:
"What occasion/situation do you think warrants wearing white after labor day?"
The winner with the most creative response (Quality, not quantity!) will be selected and announced on Monday September 12th! Make sure to get your comments in by Saturday night! Make sure to include your email address in your comment (not publicly visible) so we can notify the winner.
While you're at it, follow us on Twitter (@ajraefields) for similar contests in the future. We love new Twitter friends!
Good luck, and happy Fall!

I'll wear white after Labor Day any time I fucking want! Why should I adhere to some arbitrary rule made for no apparent reason? This sounds like a stupid rule put in place by some stupid fashionistas. I do most of my shopping at The Salvation Army and wear whatever I want when I want. This white rule has to be the dumbest thing in the world.
It's okay to wear white after labor day if you are getting married on the warm sandy beaches of Aruba.
I think it's ok to wear white after Labor Day because Kathie Lee and Hoda said it was.
i have a white jacket that is the perfect weight to wear with jeans in September Indian summer--not too heavy, not too light. Just sayin'...
Winter white works for me!
Nothing is better in the cool crisp northeast than white. It's uplifting as the days get shorter and goes with everything, the falling leaves and each and every snowflake.
In the 60's it was always in style to wear white gloves, a white veil and a navy blue dress to mass. So why wouldn't anyone do the same today?

Thanks everyone for your responses so far!
@mark,
Wow, you're really impassioned on this issue, aren't you!
@maggie,
That sounds lovely.
@Terry,
I love those 2 as well, they always have good tips on fashion, no matter how much wine they've had to drink before 10AM.
@Susan,
We agree-- a nice jacket no matter the color is a staple.
@Jan
Good point about winter whites-- nothing better than a nice, bulky knit white sweater to keep warm.
@Jill
What a lovely, poetic response. It can get brr here in the Northeast!
@Cheryl
Nice point, we love celebrating the vintage!
As the days get shorter and less bright wearing white thru Columbus Day is my style.

Ask yourself, what would Anderson do? If he wears white after Labor Day, then so do I.
Would Labor Day stop Lady Gaga? No Way! Any day you want to wear white is okay by me. Fashion is about creating your own rules! Even if it means wearing dinosaur earrings...
Colors contrast individuals differently. If your skin craves white clothing/accessories... I say, "Go for it!"
