Bold Spring Fashion 2012: Earrings

Have you been looking at the accessories coming down the runway? Or have you missed them because you were too busy drooling over the gorgeous watercolor dresses from Rodarte and African inspired looks from Donna Karan and Michael Kors? I hope at least some of you noticed the earrings. So many designers used big earrings in their collections. One of my favorites was this vintage look from Jil Sander.

How great is it that I know where to get a pair just like it? We happen to Vintage Cluster Earrings $10have a large selection of vintage cluster earrings at Raefield Designs. I got my first pair of cluster earrings a few summers ago, because certain vintage looks are always a classic. I put them on just to go out to dinner and I can't tell you how many comments I got on them. Pair these with a simple updo and a little lipcolor and you are instantly a vintage vision.

Another trend that I noticed for earrings was a 1980's throwback from several designers such as Marni, Prada and Akong. Then I saw that we have these great genuine 1980's dangle earrings at Bakelite Johnny's. They have a similar feel as some of Akong's earrings and for a tiny fraction of the price. I invite you to check out the designer looks but before you fall madly in love with a pair of Balenciaga baubles your wallet will not allow, compare them with the great selection of earrings we have in at 24/7 Jewelry, Raefield Designs and Bakelite Johnny's. You are sure to find something both you and your wallet will love.

Bold Spring Fashion 2012: Necklaces

I don’t know about you, but I am starting to get excited about all the new fashions for spring and I have to tell you, I just love what I see- there is so much variety in the collections. I think that is what makes fashion fun- the ability to interpret it in different ways. There seem to be some collections like Michael Kors and Burberry that have tribal inspiration, as well as Proenza Schouler, who also went in another direction with some futuristic elements in their collection. So many amazing details

What I am seeing as a consistant trend though, is bold, thick jewelry. No subtle, dainty pieces, only the strong will survive this season! Browsing the designer collections is always amazing, but who can afford a $350-$900 necklace? Certainly not your average blogger!

Antiqued Silver Filigree Necklace $45And that is one reason why online shopping is amazing. You can find the same look for so much less money, and who doesn't love that? I personally love this filigree style collar necklace from 24/7 Jewelry. It is such a great statement piece at a much more reasonable price! I can just picture it pairing it with that much-loved spring outfit, giving it a completely fresh & updated touch for this season!

Something I love to do for my own personal style is to choose classic staple pieces for my wardrobe and then freshen them up with more trendy accessories and less expensive pieces each season. It saves me a lot of money by not having to buy a whole new wardrobe every season!

It is so easy to get that up-to-the-minute look with just a bold statement necklace. Throw in that hint of futuristic or tribal flavor with just one great piece and you will know you've made a great fashion choice!

Anyone for cocktails...?

Everywhere you look cocktail rings are showing up. Celebrites are wearing  them on the red-carpet and just out-and-about.  Fashion magazines are featuring all kinds of styles. The bigger they are the better. I personally love the giant rhinestone variety and have this gorgeous black gunmetal piece to call my very own. Black Gunmetal Cocktail Ring $24.95

I love how wearing a huge ring can make your whole outfit look more polished and pulled together. It makes me feel so glamorous and feminine without looking like I spent hours and hours getting ready. No one wants to look like they’re trying too hard, right?

Of course you know that we could never claim that cocktail rings are something new. As trendy as they right now, they are and will remain a classic jewelVintage Turquoise Pearl & Gold Cocktail Ringry piece continuing to circle back into the height of fashion. Case in point- these fantastic vintage rings from Raefield Designs. Some of these beautiful rings are investment pieces just waiting for the right girl to fall in love with their unique charm and beauty. Some vintage pieces are a little more wallet friendly but still hold all the class and appeal of the more upscale pieces.
